"One of the Stars of the Appellation"La Revue des Vins de France Château MONCONSEIL GAZIN is situated on one of the best sites on the limestone escarpment of Blaye - the hill above the village of Plassac. The proximity to the Gironde Estuary, clay/limestone soils, and free-draining, south-facing slopes all combine to make a benevolent microclimate for maturing their grapes. The combination of great terroir and meticulous winemaking produces wines of a consistently high quality year on year, recognised by a long track record of awards. The estate is run by Jean-Michel Baudet, 5th generation winemaker, and his wife Françoise, who are deeply committed to the quality of their wines, as well as to the promotion of the wines of the region of Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux. Visitors are Welcome! We enjoy welcoming people from around the world to our 'chai', where you will be treated to a French 'degustation' (tasting), in English or in French. Our chai is open weekdays and Saturdays; groups are also welcome. Please email or call in advance so we can be sure to look after you properly! The Pilgrims' CupOur Chateau sits on the "Route de Compostelle" - the pilgrims way to the Cathedral of Santiago in Spain, the famous St Jacques de Compostelle.
