The vineyards are situated on one of the best sites: the limestone escarpment of Blaye - the hill above the village of Plassac. Clay-limestone soils and stony subsoil give excellent drainage to the vines and allow them to develop deep root systems, protecting against dry summers and encouraging complexity in the wines.

The slopes face south and south-west, ensuring optimal ripening conditions for the vines and an excellent maturity in the grapes. These factors combine to give the wines of the Château a consistently high quality.

The estate's 35 hectares are planted with Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Malbec (10%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) for the reds.
